Technology has changed its face so much in the past few years. Many new hybrid devices appeared but still many people stick to the traditional laptop computer for their everyday needs. Users who like to stay traditional and enjoy the full-package laptop experience on their desk stay with us – this is Toshiba Satellite L50.
Starting at $430 different hardware configurations are available on the market
This 15.6-inch machine is designed to be an all-purpose machine at home or at the office. Its appearance is marked by the easily-recognizable Toshiba style. The build quality is relatively decent as far as a plastic body can be. L50 is white all over, including the keyboard keys. That glossy plasticky case gets dirty very easily and the dust on the surface is always visible. Starting at $430 different hardware configurations are available on the market, suitable for different kind of work.
The Satelite L50 offers a 15.6-inch diagonal touchscreen which features the TruBrite technology. The display panel is of TFT type and has pretty high brightness level which is a big advantage when you spend a lot of time in front of the screen especially during the day. The 15-inch diagonal offers 1366×768 pixel resolution which makes this machine a good choice for entertainment. Unfortunately the pixel density is pretty low – only 100 pixels per inch.

The LED backlighting along with the TruBrite screen technology is what saves the day.
But let’s turn on this machine and see it perform. As far as processor is concerned this model can be loaded at best with 3rd generation Intel Core i7. This one is a really powerful quad-core engine that can reach a maximum turbo frequency of 3.4GHz. Our test sample came with the more modest dual-core Intel Core i5. But it coped perfectly with multitasking, playing high-definition videos and common games. Its work frequency hits 1.8GHz but TurboBoost maximized the clock speed up to 2.7GHz. The system memory available for the ongoing processes is 4GB DDR3.
Video performance is the biggest advantages on board of the Satellite L50. It is supported by nVIDIA GeForce GT 740M which has 2GB of dedicated video memory.

Playing 3d games, and loading professional software like Photoshop, the machine responds very quickly. The user-available internal storage here is 750GB HDD.
The periphery offers all the most commonly used ports and slots. These are 3 USB ports, one of which supports the much faster USB 3 version, also a VGA and an HDMI port along with an SD card reader and the already-hard-to-find DVD Super Multi optical drive.
Toshiba Satellite L50 will fail to let you work or play for a long time away from a socket plug. The 6-cell Li-Ion battery provides around 3 and a half hours of independent usage.
