few months ago we showed you guys one of Samsung’s most elegant and compact line of ultrabook computers – the Series 9, now almost a year later that particular line of powerful devices gets a new name and a few modifications along the way. Digital Manget presents the successor of the series 9 machines – Samsung Ativ Book 9 Lite.

The Ativ Book 9 starts at $800 and is loaded with a quad-core AMD Radeon processor at 1.4GHz frequency

The impressive light design is kept the same on the new Ativ Book, but actually there is a big difference in terms of hardware and specifications between the Series 9 machines and the new Ativ Book 9 – the series 9 are actually officially called ultrabooks. This one here cannot be defined as one because it doesn’t run on an Intel processor but the performance is nothing short of that.

The laptop looks very slim and elegant being only 0.69 inches thin

The case is made of plastic – glossy on the outside and rough on the palm rest. The laptop looks very slim and elegant being only 0.69 inches thin. Samsung Ativ Book 9 is ultraportable and ideal for people who work on the go because its weight is also minimum only 3.48lbs.

One should not be fooled by this machine’s so to say “light looks”, it is capable of fast and smooth performance just like most ultrabooks. Compared to the Series 9 ultrabooks, this one here is much cheaper although a significant compromise with hardware is not made.

The fast SSD 128GB disk inside additionally boosts high productivity levels

The Ativ Book 9 starts at $800 and is loaded with a quad-core AMD Radeon processor at 1.4GHz frequency. The system performance is supported by 4GB of RAM. The fast SSD 128GB disk inside additionally boosts high productivity levels. The machine boots up for exactly 8 seconds and wakes up in just 2.

The 13.3 inch display delivers 1366×768 pixels. Its anti-glare protection is an advantage especially when it comes to super mobile notebooks that are often used on the road.

It loads Windows 8 platform although it doesn’t provide a touchscreen control over it

The colors are true life and vivid and the contrast – good. It would be an exaggeration if we said we were impressed with the display quality as the screen tend to be a little dim. Unfortunately the other disadvantage concerning this display are the viewing angles which are pretty limited. The Ativ Book 9 comes with Windows 8 platform although it doesn’t provide a touchscreen control over it. But after all, lower price always means compromise.

For connection with external devices Samsung Ativ Book 9 provides USB 3 and USB 2 ports, an SD card reader, mini VGA and a micro HDMI outputs. That ultrabook alternative will be available on the markets in the beginning of August.
