fter we came to know LG’s flagship – the G2 in a series of video reviews it’s time to pay attention to another high-end smartphone by the same brand. This is LG Optimus G Pro.

Its 0.25-inch profile houses the big 5.5-inch screen

The first thing we instantly liked was the design of this device and more specifically how slim it is. Its 0.25-inch profile houses the big 5.5-inch screen in a shell weighing just a little over 0.3 pounds. Taking a look at back panel almost made us experience a deja-vu. I think we have seen this distinctive texture somewhere else, or at least something very similar. Oh that’s right this 3d-like pattern was also used for the back of the Google Nexus 4 handset. This design element is indeed what makes the handset very attractive, breaking the otherwise boring plastic design. There is also a silver metallic trimming along the edges and the camera lens on the back. The overall build quality is good, although I had a hard time handling the device or its 3-inch width in particular.

Optimus G Pro offers a huge bright IPS FullHD screen at 5.5 inches

Moving onto the essentials, the Optimus G Pro offers a huge bright IPS FullHD screen at 5.5 inches. So the G Pro offers a even bigger one than the G2 flagship which had 5.2 inches. The density of the pixels here is 401ppi. Actually the viewing experience on this big screen is great as it is sharp, bright and the colors are tru-life. The IPS technology supports wide viewing angles even outside. This phone, or more correctly – phablet, is ideal for watching videos and movies because its huge screen space doesn’t tire out the eyes. The exact resolution is 1920×1080 pixels.

Optimus G Pro runs on a quad-core Snapdragon 600, working at 1.7GHz frequency

Optimus G Pro runs on a quad-core Snapdragon 600, working at 1.7GHz frequency. Its performance is backed up by 2GB of system memory. Although, it’s not LG’s flagship the G Pro is still very serious compatition to many flagship devices out there. It is swift and multitasking is very easy as the pages load quickly. Even demanding 3D games run flawlessly, because of the highly productive Adreno 320 graphics card. In combination with the fast 4G LTE support this hardware boosts high productivity levels on this handset. G Pro comes with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and 2 internal storage options – 16GB or 32GB. There is a card slot for up to 64GB more.

G Pro comes with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean

G Pro continued to make us like it as we switched on the camera. In this came LG has put a 13MP sensor and lots of interesting features: The expressive HDR mode also Time catch mode will never let you miss the moment as it starts recording before you press the shutter key. The back camera records 1080p video and offers a dual-recording mode when both cameras record simultaneously. The second camera is front-facing at 2.1MP.

The back panel is removable to reveal the 3140mAh Li-Ion battery which provides just enough juice to power this huge and bright screen for a whole day of battery-challenging usage and an impressive 20-hour talk time.
Optimus G Pro will be available in black and white colors.
