hen tablets first emerged they were mostly used for browsing, watching videos and playing unpretentious games. The situation has now changed as their flexibility has evolved to pack more powerful hardware and features. A carry around machine is a key necessity in any business.

 Digital Magnet draws the curtain to reveal the business device Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2.

Its sleek black profile and a lightweight of 565grams make it elegant and at the same time easy to fit in any business bag. The overall build quality is excellent and also very friendly to the hand thanks to the rubberized finish on the back. It ensures a comfortable and stable grip.

The left edge line of the tablet is interestingly rounded all the way down. So we paid more attention to that particular design feature and found out that that was actually the bed for Lenovo’s Digitizer Pen. Actually such a tool is a must with Windows 8 devices as some work applications require precision that is hart to achieve with fingers.

The IPS display has a 10.1 inch diagonal which delivers 1366×768 pixel resolution at 155 ppi density. It is LED backlit and supports 5 finger multitouch. The numbers themselves are not to impress but we were pretty satisfied with the brightness level of 400 cd/m2, as well as the true color levels and the contrast. No annoying light reflections will disturb the work process thanks to the anti-glare screen technology. The overall visual performance of is more than satisfying. This is also achieved thanks to the Intel HD SGX 545 integrated graphics.

Lenovo ThinkPad tablet 2 packs a low-power dual core Intel Atom CPU clocked at 1.8GHz frequency. The performance is supported by 2GB SDRAM system memory. The tablet runs smooth with multiple applications open but a few heavy ones will most probably give it a heard time. Thanks to the power-optimized processor the 30Wh lithium-polymer battery piece provides more than 6 hours of intensive multitasking.

This business machine offers two configurations when it comes to onboard memory: you can find it with 32GB and 64GB hard disks.

8MP base camera equipped with a strong LED flash is placed on the back of the device. It delivers good quality images and FullHD video. The front lens is perfect for video calls with 720p HD quality.

Since this machine is supposed to serve for any kind of business tasks it comes well prepared to connect and exchange information. It has a rich-in-ports periphery lines.

You can take advantage of a full-size USB 2, mini HDMI, microSD card slot, and a docking connector

You can load your tablet with an optional ThinkPad quality Bluetooth keyboard dock to easily transform this tablet into a full-size notebook. The biggest surprise was the SIM card slot found along the upper edge of the case. It is supposed to provide you with instant internet access anywhere you go. The embedded 4G support delivers high speed browsing speeds.

Although it is a business machine its multimedia productivity is not by any means neglected. Two stereo speakers are placed on the back side to deliver clear and rich sound.
