HP Elitebook 8470p Is an Office Professional
P has always been one of the leading popular brands in professional business class notebooks. The machines that belong to that category are not only supposed to perform well but also to be very reliable and helpful business partners. In this video review Digital Magnet reveals the office assistant HP EliteBook 8470p.
As a professional workstation, this notebook is far from being thin and lightweight. The reason being that its sturdy body is military certified to be resistant to outside damage like water spills, vibration and dust. Although it has bulky dimensions, it doesn’t fail to look elegant and chic. The aluminum chassis is combined with plastic along its periphery. The total weight of the machine is a little over 2kg.
Actually not design but performance is where we should get into more details. The HP EliteBook 8470p can come in 4 different Intel configurations but our test unit was loaded with the fastest processor possible.
It runs on a dual Core i7 vpro CPU. Its clock speed reaches 2.9GHz and the maximum turbo frequency boosts the impressive 3.6GHz. During the multitasking tests the machine showed nothing less than top performance. Packed with up to 16GB of system memory it worked flawlessly through our multi-application testing. We opened a few applications along with a game and it didn’t seem to hesitate for a second. Although this machine possesses a distinctive business spirit, it can easily be your entertainer. The video performance here is handled by Radeon HD 757M.
The fast 256GB SSD hard drive also contributes to the smooth software behavior of the Elitebook 8470p.
A business machine is supposed to have compact dimensions as it is often on the road, this is the reason why HP has chosen the 14-inch diagonal for its EliteBook. The HD+ display works at 1600×900 pixel resolution, which makes 131 pixels per inch density.
This result sends the notebook among the winners in that class. The brightness level is the second important number when it comes to spending a long time in front of the computer screen. The 300cd/m2 brightness is very easy on the eye, which is the case also thanks to the LED technology used. The screen features an anti-glare layer so that your work is not disturbed by the annoying reflections on the screen.
Since a business notebook should be first of all productive and flexible, this one here has what it takes to help you with all kinds of office tasks. Its periphery provides a rich variety of ports and slots. It is equipped with 2 USB3 ports, an ExpressCard 54 reader, and what is hardly found in 14inches – an optical DVD-LW. On the right side there is a combo eSATA USB and a second one USB2. On the bottom there is a docking station output and another one allowing you to put a second battery piece. The onboard one has 55Wh capacity and provides enough charge for about 6 hours of intensive usage.
According to your personal preferences HP Elitebook 8470p comes either with Windows 7 or the latest Microsoft Windows 8 Pro platform.
