ccording to market research the most common and best selling laptop size is the 15’’ segment because it is both compact and also suitable for the popular consumer needs. This time we decided to pay more attention to the more particular needs: for those of you who need a powerful machine that at the same time offers an excellent-performing wide screen – the machine I am going to introduce to you in this video review is the 18.4’’ ASUS K95VM.

We hadn’t seen such a solid machine in a while. Its dimensions are pretty impressive – 440mm width, 295mm height and 48mm thickness, those numbers along with the hardware interior weigh 4kg and 295g. Although it’s a mobile computer, we wouldn’t recommend it to people who travel a lot. The design of this bulky machine combines elegant lines with innovative make. The effect of grey and black polycarbonate with textured finish is additionally enhanced by the glossy surface.

Your multimedia experience is guaranteed also by the wide viewing angle of 170 degrees. The opening mechanism that holds this wide screen is stable and runs smoothly. As the ASUS K95VM is a multimedia-orientated machine it cannot be a surprise that the sound is also very decent, being a product of Altec Lansing. It is as powerful as 5W.

The keyboard is island-style one with huge and ergonomic keys that also proves the laptop’s gaming purpose. They are soft and have a short stroke. The keyboard also features a numpad which is actually a rare case with most laptops. The touchpad is placed below the keyboard and supports mulitouch, the two auxiliary keys are built-in.

The periphery offers everything regardless of how pretentious you are. You have the VGA front-facing camera, HDMI port, 2USB ports v3.0, DVD super multy drive and 2 more USB ports, this time v2.0. Wait, there is more, you the laptop also features a card reader 3-in-1 that supports SD SDHC and SDXC formats.

The hardware engine is a 3rd generation quad-core IntelCore i7 running at 2.3GHz for each core, the chipset is facilitated by 8GB SDRAM DDR3. The graphic performance is also high-end with the NVIDIA GeForce 600 series graphic processor that has 1GB DDR3 VRAM. You have quite the freedom as far as storage is concerned, it can vary from 500GB at 5400rmp to the fascinating 3 TB at 7200rpm according to your personal needs.

The model can be purchased with all versions of Windows 7.

To tell you the truth the machine really appealed to you with one little exception – the battery life. The 6-cell 50Whrs battery provides below-the-average exploitation time when unplugged.
